Well, the Artist Couch Exchange is doing well. We already have hosts from three different continents! How cool is that? Hopefully the network will continue to grow and actually be used. That would be amazing.
J.T. is back in the band. It's been 11 months, but he's back in action. We missed him. I think Emmy missed him the most. She even bought shoes just like J.T.'s because they reminded her of him. Yes, we have a loving rhythm section.
At our first band practice with J.T. a couple weeks ago I gave everyone the recordings of the new songs and also threw on a song from the Pop-Opera I'm working on, The Brass Ring. The song is called "Five Dollar Night" and I had actually been threatening to write it for a long time - way before I had ever thought of writing a Pop-Opera. I guess if you get down to it that song was probably the catalyst for me expanding the thought.
Anyway, I played it for them and they LOVED it. I think they loved it more than any song I've ever played them. It was just a simple recording I did on my computer with loops. I had given Kim a copy of one other song that I had recorded already and she played it for everyone too. They were so inspired that they convinced me that they should be the "orchastra pit" when I play this live. In fact, they wanted to help write it also.
So, next practice we had we focused on this only. We got another song written and it was one I was having trouble coming up with something! We're all very excited about completing and performing this in the coming months. If it goes well I may even travel to other cities and perform it to tracks - which was my original thought. Be in the lookout for The Brass Ring in the very near future!
